VOLUNTEER IN TURKEY
    
The land of Turkey are located at a point where three continents , Asia , Africa and Europe , are closest to each other , and straddle the point where Europe and Asia meet . Geographically , the country is located in the northern half of the hemisphere at a point that is about halfway bettween the equator and north pole.  Because of its geographical location the mainland of Anatolia has always found favor throughout history , and is the birthplace of many great civilizations .    
     
Turkey offers a fusion of culture – old and new,east and west , modern and traditional . Volunteers contribute to worthwhile causes while meeting new people, learning valuable work and life skills becoming part of Turkish community life. In Turkey , you can see landscapes of incredible natural beauty , sites of great antiquity , towns and villages with lovely examples of architecture from Byzantine , Seljuk and Ottoman times.
     
You will enjoy the delicious food and marvellous local wines and drinks ,and the hospitality of the people . You will want to return again and again each time making new discoveries and new friends .
   
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
       
Turkish Language Course : Basic Turkish language classes will be covered during your orientation to enable you to communicate with the locals . There is an optional intensive Turkish Language courses at EIL Turkey’s office. Excursions : There will be a guided tour in the parts of the old city known as Constantinople . Blue Mosque , Saint Sophia , Topkapý Palace , Grand Bazaar , Golden Horn and Spice Bazaar will be visited during these tours.
Other activities :
You will have opportunity to try to prepare a Turkish dish and learn easy steps of belly dancing . 
      
Homestay : Throughout your program you will live with a Turkish host family . Host families are carefully selected , volunteer families. You will experience famous “Turkish hospitality” .
    
Orientation : Your orientation program will cover basic information about customs, values and daily life in Turkey as well as tips about learning and living in a different culture. The participants will be informed about the different lifestyles , values , beliefs of people s/he will encounter during the volunteer community service .
   
Volunteer service : Following orientation program you will start your volunteer program . Some volunteer projects may be; Working as assistant to teacher in orphanages , public primary schools or public kindergartens Social work for elderly , handicapped and street kids Environmental work , reforestation , planting trees , working for environmental NGO’s Community work in rural area , agriculture and field work with villagers ; constructing playgrounds , work in village primary school

Payment Schedule

A deposit of 20% of the total program fee is required with your application.   It is non-refundable upon notification of acceptance and is applied to the total program fee.  

The balance of the program fee is required upon confirmation of placement information.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation after acceptance and prior to placement confirmation – the deposit is forfeited

Cancellation after confirmation of placement – 50% of the program fee is forfeited

No Show or Early Departure from Program – 100% of the program fee is forfeited.
